SUMMARY:Evia International Lab
DESCRIPTION:\nTurning the Tide project continues its journey, bringing together art, science, and community engagement to address environmental challenges. Following the successful event in Seestadt, the next International Lab will take place in Chalkida, Greece, focusing on the aftermath of the 2021 wildfires and floods in Northern Evia.\nDay 1: 14th of May (open to the public & livestreamed)\nConference: A series of thought-provoking conference sessions will anchor the event, offering a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue among artists, researchers, academics and engaged citizens. Together, they will address urgent topics such as climate resilience, environmental justice, and the transformative potential of the arts in post-disaster contexts.\nDay 2: 15th of May (includes study visits and is not open to the public)\nDay 3: 16th of May (open to the public)\nArtistic Exhibition: “Íchni – Memories of the Future”\nThe central exhibition, titled “Íchni – Memories of the Future” presents a compelling collection of interdisciplinary artworks created by participating local and international artists during their engagement in the Evia International Lab. These works address the lasting environmental impact of the catastrophic wildfires and floods that affected Northern Evia in 2021, capturing both the visible devastation and the subtler emotional and ecological imprints on landscapes and communities.\nThrough a diverse range of media, the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the concept of “íchni” (meaning traces in Greek) as remnants of trauma, symbols of resilience, and visions of speculative futures.\nBy blending memory with imagination, the show acts as a living archive of place-based experiences and proposes new aesthetic strategies for processing ecological grief, reimagining recovery, and shaping more sustainable futures.\nFull agenda:\n\n\nRegister here and follow us on social media to stay updated!\n\n
