SUMMARY:Turning the Tide: The Stockholm Lab 15-17 October
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to welcome you to Turning The Tide: The Stockholm Lab, a unique international gathering hosted in the very heart of Stockholm. Over a three-day programme, artists, climate experts, urban planners, researchers, and policymakers from across Europe will come together to explore how art and culture can help shape more resilient and sustainable coastal and waterfront cities.\nOur venues reflect the spirit of the event.\nKulturhuset, Stockholm’s iconic cultural hub right in the city centre, & Vrak – Museum of Wrecks, located along the beautiful waterfront with breathtaking views of Slussen.\nTurning The Tide: The Stockholm Lab combines artistic presentations, keynote talks, interdisciplinary discussions, and study visits, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and cross-sector collaboration. Through creative dialogue and shared experiences, participants will examine how socially engaged art can communicate complex climate issues, foster public engagement, and inspire action toward more resilient and sustainable urban futures. The Stockholm Lab is part of the broader Turning The Tide project ( https://www.turning-thetide.com/ ), led by Intercult ( https://intercult.se/en/ ) and co-funded by the EU’s Creative Europe programme, and follows a series of similar international labs held across Europe.\n \n\n\nThe Stockholm Lab days:\n\n15th October at Vrak – Museum of Wrecks\n“Art as a Force for Social Change”\n\n\n\nThe first day focuses on how art can inspire social and environmental change, opening with study visits and project introductions, followed by discussions on the role of art in public discourse and climate activism. Artistic interventions, international perspectives and a dialogue between artists and scientists highlight the potential of creative expression to mobilize communities and influence policy.\n \n\n\n\n16th October at Kulturhuset\n“Water, Cities, and Sustainability”\n\n\n\nThe second day addresses the challenges coastal cities face in the context of climate change, with a focus on urban resilience, water management, and innovative planning. Expert talks, artistic contributions, and discussions explore strategies for building adaptive cities while showcasing how interdisciplinary collaboration can foster sustainable urban futures.\n \n\n\n\n17th October at Vrak – Museum of Wrecks\n“Future Visions and Action”\n\n\n\nThe final day looks ahead to practical solutions, exploring how art can move from raising awareness to driving real-world impact. Through keynotes, artistic interventions, roundtables, and dialogues, participants will examine ethical responsibility, cross-sector partnerships, and the concrete steps needed to turn creative ideas into effective climate action.\n\n \nRegister individually for each day here!
