Ephemeral Art Project, 2024

“Water is both: precious and fleeting. The complex interplay between temperature, climate, and water is illustrated in the Ephemeral Art Project using nothing more than a simple grey stone slab, a brush, and water. Instead of a glowing display, communication is painted visible only for a short time on the surface of the stone.

This participatory art project embraces a playful and experimental character, encouraging individuals to discover their own approaches and solutions. Painting an image on a stone slab heated to 50°C, the temperature predicted for Paris in 2040, becomes nearly impossible.

As we observe the rapid evaporation of our writing or artwork, we become aware not only of our own fragile existence but also of the existential connection between humanity and climate change. The warmer the climate, the scarcer water will become.

Creating a large image composed of many individual stone slabs can only succeed through coordination and collective effort, a desirable process, and a metaphor for global climate policy”.
