Meet the Artist: Katarzyna Piórek in Conversation with Liz Gardiner – Turning the Tide in Gdansk
During her residency in Gdańsk, she created a four-channel audio-video installation in loop, called *Equilibrium 2024*, where she explores the balance of water. She also initiated an audio project based on interviews with people she met in Gdańsk, where they talk about their connections with water. The interviews summarize each individual’s relationship, thoughts, and experiences with water.
“Water fascinates, terrifies, completes, fills, and decides. It asks nothing, it simply is. It balances, remembers, is me, is the world, is the source of life and death. Water is wisdom.
In our lives, water plays not only a physical but also a symbolic role. It is an element that balances, transforms, and remembers. Its presence is an indispensable source of life, yet it can be dangerous and demands respect. Water is a substance that connects us to our roots and our future, to our memories and dreams.”
The *Equilibrium* exhibition invites reflection on how water shapes our experiences and how we shape its future.
