Gdansk Symposium Day 2024
On June 25, 2024, the Urban Culture Institute in Gdansk will host a unique event, a symposium on water organised as part of the 饾棫饾槀饾椏饾椈饾椂饾椈饾棿 饾榿饾椀饾棽 饾棫饾椂饾棻饾棽 project.
“饾棫饾槀饾椏饾椈饾椂饾椈饾棿 饾榿饾椀饾棽 饾棫饾椂饾棻饾棽” is an ambitious and transdisciplinary science and art project that aims to creatively respond to the threats posed by the climate crisis, such as rising sea levels, securing drinking water supplies, coastal erosion, increased intensity and frequency of flooding, and more. The project engages local communities, amplifies unheard voices and raises awareness of the importance of sustainable actions. In addition to the Urban Culture Institute in Gdansk, the project involves partners from four European countries: Intercult from Sweden, Artit from Greece, Wiener Bildungsakademie from Austria, DEAR HUNTER from the Netherlands; in cooperation with Fablevision Scotland and the River//Cities network.
Gdansk, with its rich history and vibrant urban landscape, is one of the leaders in making multifaceted decisions responding to climate change. Deeply connected to its surrounding environment, the urban fabric is grappling with the effects of climate change caused by both natural phenomena and human activities. Understanding and mitigating these impacts is critical to ensuring the resilience and sustainability of Gdansk in the face of environmental uncertainty.
The Symposium will bring together a wide range of participants – representatives of institutions, universities, research institutes, as well as artists and cultural activists.
The meeting aims to promote and popularize research in fields related to contemporary environmental, urban and social challenges in the context of climate change.
We sincerely invite all interested parties to participate in this important event!聽
The event will be held in English, admission is 饾棾饾椏饾棽饾棽.
The symposium provides coffee breaks and a vegetarian lunch for participants.
