Would you like to be part of our groundbreaking artistic initiative aimed at solving the climate crisis in coastal cities? We invite artists from Poland to apply for a spring artist residency in Gdańsk. We also invite Ukrainian citizens currently residing in Poland to participate. We are waiting for your applications until March 24, 2025.
Turning the Tide (TTT) is an ambitious artistic project and transdisciplinary dialogue aimed at creatively responding to the specific threats posed by the climate crisis in cities located on the waterfront. The project aims to engage local residents, amplify voices that have not yet been heard, and raise awareness of climate issues. Five partners are involved in the TTT project: Intercult (Sweden), Artit (Greece), Wiener Bildungsakademie (Austria), DEAR HUNTER (Netherlands), and the City Culture Institute (Poland), in collaboration with Fablevision Scotland and the River//Cities network.
ARTISTIC RESIDENCY IN GDANSK FOR LOCAL ARTISTS
We invite Polish artists to apply for an artistic residency in Gdańsk. We also encourage Ukrainian nationals currently living in Poland to participate in the residency.
We invite artists working in the fields of socially engaged art, environmental protection, and coastal climate issues.
The artist residency for artists from Poland (and Ukraine) will last three months, from April 1 to June 30, during which time the selected participants will be able to focus on cultural mapping, artistic research, and the creation of a work of art, which will be the final result of the residency and presented at an online exhibition.
LOCAL URBAN LABS
Artists selected for three-month artistic residencies will co-create the Local Urban Labs (LUL) program. LUL is a series of public events (workshops, lectures, discussion meetings) devoted to issues of climate change, social engagement, and the current environmental challenges facing Gdańsk.
The results of the local artists’ residencies in Gdańsk will be compiled and presented on the TTT project website and social media, giving residents the opportunity to promote their artistic activities in an international, highly diverse environment.
All participants in the residencies organized as part of TTT in the four partner cities simultaneously (Gdańsk, Stockholm, Athens-Evoia, and Vienna-Seestadt) will meet during regular webinars, building an international artistic network supported by the cartopological method of cultural mapping developed by architects from Dear Hunter.

We welcome applications from people at any stage of their career who can fully engage in the program of events and co-create the LUL social program.
