On June 6th, Slussen in Stockholm transformed into a vibrant hub of creativity and community engagement during the opening of the Södermalmstorg and Mälartrappan, a big urban planning development project of the city of Stockholm.
During the opening event on the Swedish national day, Intercult presented the outcomes of the third Local Lab of the “Turning the Tide” project.
Artists Ajja and Vlady engaged the public in reflecting on the environment through Vlady’s subtle urban interventions mapped at Södermalmstorg, and Ajja’s collaborative mobile mural journey from Björns trädgård to Södermalmstorg inspired by Stockholm’s Slussen and themes of belonging and environmental uncertainty.
This Local Lab is part of a broader effort across European cities to harness the power of art in addressing climate challenges. By engaging communities directly, “Turning the Tide” fosters a collective sense of responsibility and hope for a sustainable future.
